There are numerous
definitions of Business Continuity Planning and
there are even different opinions about what
comprises Business Continuity.
Business Continuity describes the processes and
procedures an organization puts in place to ensure
that essential business functions can continue
before, during and after a disaster. Business
Continuity planning seeks to prevent interruption of
mission-critical services, and, in the event of a
disruption, seeks to reestablish full functioning as
swiftly and smoothly as possible. Business
Continuity addresses the overall business processes
and critical functions of the enterprise. Business
Continuity also addresses the more limited scope of
information systems.
The following diagram provides a graphic
representation of the scope if Business Continuity.
